Game 1: Fairfax v/s Taurids ( Report by AJ Parikh)

40 Overs League.

Game 1: Fairfax v/s Taurids

Result: Taurids won by 9 wickets (According to WCL method)

Very often we have heard that scorecard doesn’t tell us the whole story and the first game for Fairfax was pretty much like that. After 3 weeks of rest and conquering the 20 over league conference, Fairfax was looking forward to extend its winning run. It took the Taurids team an injured player, a girl substitute on the field replacing another player (who got stuck at the airport) and rain gods to defeat Fairfax.

Fairfax won the toss and elected to bat as it so often does. Kunal Parikh led from the front yet again guiding the innings with a composed innings of 73. Prasad also showed his good form in the tournament with a breezy 30. Rains interrupted the game for 20 min but players were back on the field after that. After the 2nd break in the 1st innings, Fairfax accelerated and scored 100 runs in the last 12. With 192 in 40 overs, Fairfax was looking comfortable to seal the game as it so often does by choking the opposition but the bowlers didn’t start off well with Aj giving a six of his third ball of the spell. The bowling went down pretty much after that. Adam had a game to forget. He got a terrible run out call from the umpire and then had 2 bad overs to follow it up with. But let’s not take away anything from the opposition. They exploited the Fairfax team’s problems in the best way. The opening batsman waited for that bad delivery every over and put it away with ease. They were happy to block all the good deliveries. Fairfax struggles every time their bowlers get plundered as it is an inexperienced team right now. But they have a strong captain leading them which makes a lot of difference. They have already put the loss behind and are looking forward to register their first win against Pakistan.

Pakistan is also going to be a tough task as we saw last time when they came very close to beating FCC in the T20 game. It will be a good contest of bat and ball.
