Match Report by AJ- Metro 1st Game of season 2013

20 League Match - 1: Fairfax v/s Metro : Fairfax won by 29 runs.

Fairfax : 76/6 in 20 overs
Metro : 47/ 10 in 16 overs

It was not exactly a perfect start for Fairfax Cricket Club but they will take a win anyday. Fairfax was a player short but the way things folded after 40 overs of cricket, it looked like 10 were more than enough. 16 wickets fell for 123 runs at 7.69 runs per wicket. Not exactly a good advertisement for T20 cricket (especially not for USA). Kunal , captain of FCC decided to bat first after winning the toss and sitting in the dug out, it seemed frustrating to see the team at 25 to 30 runs after 10 overs. But the captain backed his decision by cleaning up the metro lower middle order after Prasad had given the early breakthroughs. Vishy also rolled his arm well and brought all his experience after he failed to capitalize with the bat. Vinit, the former FCC captain, guided the innings through and kept the cheering and motivation throughout the day. It was nice to see a few debutatnts coming into the team as well. Mehmood played a fast innings at the end , and by fast I mean , more than 3 runs a over. Aj didn't have a good game with the ball and in the field. He dropped a simple chance at the start of the game but it didn't cost much after Prasad cleaned the batsman up with a deceptive slower delivery. Yatin, the left arm paceman, kept the pressure with the ball and chipped in with a wicket. The Metro team looked out of sorts after restricting FCC for a meagre total. They took it lightly and all the batsman seemed to go for the shots. The pitch was perfect for their slow bowlers but the batsmen made a mess of the chase. FCC can take pride in their fighting ability and feel lucky that they escaped with a low total. Teams don't fold for under 50 runs everyday. Still the whole season ahead and some exciting new young players, FCC has made a statement for themselves.

Good one.. AJ.
